The BehaviorLive messaging feature is a great way for your team to collaborate on conference communications and disseminate important event information.
Note that this feature is only for Transactional emails. You may send emails to users who are linked to your conference: Presenters, Registrants, and Exhibitors, but marketing emails are not permitted.
Get Started with a Template
Click Messaging on the left-hand menu > New Email > From Template and select the pre-made template you'd like to use.
Templates are also a great starting point if the existing template content is not exactly what you need for your message, but you'd prefer not to start from scratch.
Edit Your Email
Click the content elements in the body of the email to edit individually. Editable options will be displayed in the left-hand menu, or above the content element itself depending on the type of content you're updating.
Duplicating and deleting Content
Click on individual content or blocks to duplicate or delete elements.
Remember to periodically save your work by clicking the SAVE button in the top left corner!
Merge Tags
Merge tags are unique, text-based identifiers that correspond to account data. Use merge tags to pull in text that is individualized to each user, and add personalization to your emails, such as First Names and Presentation Titles.
Merge tags can be inserted into text content elements by clicking the Merge Tags dropdown within your text, or added to Blocks if you need to repeat data. A good example of the need to repeat a merge tag would be if one of your conference speakers will be giving multiple presentations at your conference or event.
Add a repeating Merge Tag
- Add a Block (row) to your email body, and click on the block. Learn more about adding new content and blocks to your email
- Click the Merge Tags icon, select the tag group, and select Repeat as the Merge Rule
This will create a row of repeating merge tags, and your email recipient will see a list of their presentations each with its own unique information.
Finishing Your Email
When you're happy with your email's design, update your email settings, send information, and don't forget to send yourself a test email to check any links and see what your recipients will see.
Refer back to the Messaging Overview article for more information on the final steps to send your finished message.
